Forty-seven high school students were inducted into the inaugaral chapter of PCCS' National Honor Society on December 7, 2009. Friends and families gathered to honor the young scholars who meet the demanding requirements for membership into this distinct organization. Students must maintain a 3.0 or better grade point average and distinguish themselves with regard to character and leadership to be considered for inclusion in the society. NHS sponsor Amy Carruthers spoke to the group about the history of the organization and its four guiding principles: scholarship, leadership, character, and service. The students were also encouraged by guest speaker Kathy Harrington, PCCS parent and candidate for state legislature, to begin their careers of service early and to be active members in their community. A reception hosted by George and Heather Bell and Kathy and Jim Broome, proud parents all, followed the ceremony.
